Bridge Rug

$830 – $3,100

The Bridge rug is a technically complex design achieved with 12 harmonious colours in a geometric progression. Chromatically vivid, inspiration came from remembered travels in the southern Mexican region of Chiapas. The bold use of colour – brights and fluoro – in traditional backstrap weaving of San Cristóbal de las Casas.

To realise this design, our artisan weavers have achieved an ambitious feat, pushing the boundaries of the craft. Each rug is handwoven by highly skilled practitioners on two warp beams that interlace the wool yarns. It is a warp-faced format, more typically used for simple stripes in just a few colours – the Bridge design takes this simple principle and expands its potential.

Craftsmanship: Hand Loom
Pile Composition: 100% Wool

Hand Loom – Specific to orthogonal designs, warp-faced hand loom rugs are traditionally woven on a horizontal loom. During the making process – a technique similar to that of velvet – makers insert rods into the warp, determining the depth of the pile height, which is then cut;  the resultant rug is dense and sumptuous.

Materials - Indian Chokla Wool – natural, durable, versatile, sustainable.

Please note: The Bridge Rug is not included in our October 2022 rug promotion.

Underlay

An underlay provides cushioning that increases the longevity of a rug; we advise customers to use a good quality anti-slip underlay, for this reason, and to prevent a rug from creasing and slipping, whether on a carpet or a hard floor. Underlay also protects the floor covering beneath from transference of colours or fibres from the back of the rug.

This design is woven using a Hand Loom technique. Due to the nature of production, it is not available to order as a bespoke piece. Our Hand Knotted, Hand Tufted and Flatweave rugs are all adaptable for bespoke projects. See our Rug Portfolio.
