RE-CREATE | Art Blankets
Eight unique art blankets that embody both artistry and sustainability.
Produced in our Whitstable studio, each unique composition required over 30 hours of work, transforming carefully collected selvedge and remnants from our textile production into abstract artworks.
Members of our studio worked in collaboration to compose, piece and finish each blanket. We are lucky to have a team of weavers, designers and skilled sewers contribute their respective skills and design sensibility to create these handcrafted pieces.
Patchwork has long been rooted in the practical wisdom of using every scrap. Margo embraced this time-honoured making technique from the very start of her career as a necessary means of maximising the use of the limited fabric that she was able to produce. She is often drawn to both the resourcefulness and aesthetic beauty of the now renowned Gee’s Bend quilt makers.
