Canterbury Cathedral presents:
moon landing
9th June - 31st August, 2025
Canterbury Cathedral will be hosting the installation moon landing, the duo work created by British textile artist and designer of woven textiles, Margo Selby, and award-winning composer, Helen Caddick.
An immersive installation comprising a 16-metre hand-woven textile by Margo Selby, and an original musical piece scored for strings by Helen Caddick, inspired by the story of the women who wove the integrated circuits and memory cores which enabled the moon landing.
It is a celebration of the mathematical and technical possibilities of weaving and the crossovers of pattern, tone and rhythm found in both music and woven textiles.

Concept
The project was inspired by the women who used their weaving skills and ability to visualise complicated patterns to create the integrated circuit designs used in the guidance and control systems of the Apollo spacecraft which resulted in the successful 1969 moon landing.
