Weaving Workshops | Margo Selby Studio

Explore Weaving and Colour with Margo Selby | Creative, Hands-On Workshops for All Levels.

Alongside her art practice and textile business, Margo runs creative weaving and loom set-up workshops from her studio on the Kent coast, as well as creative weaving experiences delivered in partnership with selected creative institutions, led by Margo and her studio team.

These workshops are designed to support weavers of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners, in exploring colour, technique, creative problem-solving and textile design.

Weavers who wish to explore a specific technique may bring their own table loom. We are happy to help with the set up during the week and ensure you are ready to weave. Please contact the studio in advance so we can advise and plan accordingly.

We are stockists of Ashford looms and can offer guidance on selecting a loom that suits your weaving practice. Please contact us at info@margoselby.com for a price list or to discuss your requirements.

Our 5-Day Creative Weaving Workshop

Throughout the week, participants will work on a range of studio looms, set up to explore different techniques and ideas. Looms will be used in rotation, allowing students to experiment with a variety of structures and approaches.

As part of the course, Margo will lead a dedicated colour and design session using yarn windings. This session explores how colours interact and blend, informing warp and weft selection, and introduces key principles of colour theory, stripe and repeat within woven textiles.

By the end of the workshop, students will have a collection of hand-woven samples to keep and refer to, along with ideas for finishing and future development. On the final afternoon, work will be cut from the looms and discussed as a group.

Weavers who wish to explore a specific technique may bring their own table loom. We are happy to help with the set up during the week and ensure you are ready to weave. Please contact the studio in advance so we can advise and plan accordingly. If there is a particular technique you are keen to explore, do let us know and we will endeavour to support this where possible.
