The Oare rug is a technically complex design achieved in 12 harmonious colours in a geometric progression. Chromatically vibrant, in blues, coral and green, with a broad tonal range. The orthogonal linearity, narrow or broad, and regular or varying, makes for visual depth.
To realise this design, our artisan weavers have achieved an ambitious feat, pushing the boundaries of the craft. Each rug is handwoven by highly skilled practitioners on two warp beams that interlace the wool yarns. It is a warp-faced format, more typically used for simple stripes in just a few colours - the Oare design takes this simple principle and expands its potential.
A returnable rug sample (approx. 30cm x 20cm) is available for this design. We offer returnable (and refundable) samples of our rugs for both our trade and retail customers. These samples are presented in a 1:1 scale, offering a section of the design's intricate details.

Craftsmanship: Hand Loom
Pile Composition: 100% Wool
Hand Loom - Specific to orthogonal designs, warp-faced hand loom rugs are traditionally woven on a horizontal loom. During the making process – a technique similar to that of velvet - makers insert rods into the warp, determining the depth of the pile height, which is then cut; the resultant rug is dense and sumptuous.

Underlay + Rug Care
An underlay provides cushioning that increases the longevity of a rug; we advise customers to use a good quality anti-slip underlay, for this reason, and to prevent a rug from creasing and slipping, whether on a carpet or a hard floor. Underlay also protects the floor covering beneath from transference of colours or fibres from the back of the rug.
