Simon Lloyd Fish
AW2020
It has been so exciting to see our fabrics radically repurposed into a super-stylish smoking jackets by the innovative London-based designer Simon Lloyd Fish.
We have worked with fashion houses before, and of course make our own jackets in house – apparel is of great interest to us – but men’s tailoring is a new and exciting avenue.
BRASILIA, in striking shades of inky prussian blue, the darkest of navy and ivory white, was initially designed by Margo as a soft furnishing textile in collaboration with interior design studio Casa Botelho. She took inspiration from the architectural designs and tiles of Oscar Niemeyer. In the geometric graphic pattern, Simon saw potential for dynamic tailoring – and it works so well! The crisp structure of the fabric enhances the slim cut – a look both classic and stunningly modern.

The bespoke jacket, part of Simon’s AW2020 Evening Wear Collection, is a showstopper, made to be seen. As menswear in general becomes more ornate and decorative – Simon was aiming for a stand-out look, masculine yet elegant – dapper but with a hard edge. He is inspired by the opening sequences of James Bond films, the nightclub, casino and cocktail bar – the paparazzi shot on the red carpet – the drama and glamour of Hollywood.

Following their mutual interest in the intersections of art, fashion, textile design, film and photography, this is the beginning of an ongoing collaboration between Margo Selby and Simon Lloyd Fish.
