Margo Selby Studio is proud to release our new indoor/outdoor kelim rugs – equally perfect for conventional interior use OR patios, decks, verandas and conservatories – anywhere that you would like to add warmth, comfort and style.
These vegan rugs combine innovative sustainable tech with traditional artisan skills – they are hand-woven on looms, using hand-dyed Polyethylene Terephthalate (rPET) yarn – made from recycled plastic water bottles.
The two patterns – bright and bold ROSARIO and subtly toned ANTEDIOS – are both quintessential Margo Selby, and each rug is finished with our signature-striped edge. The geometric pattern progressions and syncopated rhythms of the designs, are expertly realised by the skilled hands of the weavers – each individual rug is a unique handmade creation.
rPET yarn is incredibly soft and warm underfoot, very like wool – and it is extremely hardwearing, easily cleaned and stain resistant – suitable for high-traffic areas of your home (for example hallways, kitchens and play-rooms) – we love rPET yarn as a green solution, but we also love it as a sumptuous textile. An outdoor rug opens up a whole new world of possibilities for garden-living and summer evenings.

Underlay: We advise customers to use a good quality anti-slip underlay to prevent your rug from creasing and slipping on the floor whether it is placed on a carpet or a hard surface and to increase the longevity of the rug by cushioning it. Underlay should be used to avoid transference of dark colours or fibres from the back of the rug onto light coloured flooring or carpet underneath.

Due to the hand made nature of this product there is some variation in size from piece to piece.
Composition: 100% PET (recycled plastic bottles)
Cleaning: For day-to-day cleaning, a light vacuuming will do an excellent job of removing surface dirt (but without rotary brushes as this can damage the surface).
PET yarn copes with dirt, sun and moisture far better than natural fibres. We recommend the same treatments for PET as for wool by and large: dab (don't rub) spills and stains using a damp cloth. If necessary flood with water and dab some more. If the mark persists use dilute soap and again, flood and dab and flood with clean water at the end to remove the residue.
If your rug is used outdoors and gets very dirty/muddy it can be hosed down and brushed. If left in the rain for extended time it will require drying as prolonged wetting can damage the fibre and may lead to mould.

The Canterbury Rug is a complex design of 12 harmonious colours in a progressive geometric pattern.
To realise this design, our artisan weavers have achieved an ambitious feat, pushing the boundaries of the craft. It is a warp-faced format, more typically used for simple stripes in just a few colours – the Canterbury design takes this simple principle and expands its potential.

FESTIVAL Hand-Tufted Rug – Made To Order
Festival hand-tufted rug in 100% wool yarns.
Our hand-tufted rugs are made in Varanasi, India, at one of the highest quality tufting units in the world. They are handmade by inserting wool tufts through a canvas backing using a specialised mechanical tool to allow for precision.

Underlay: We advise customers to use a good quality anti-slip underlay to prevent your rug from creasing and slipping on the floor whether it is placed on a carpet or a hard surface and to increase the longevity of the rug by cushioning it. Underlay should be used to avoid transference of dark colours or fibres from the back of the rug onto light coloured flooring or carpet underneath.
Stain Proofing: Stain proofing helps protect your rug from dirt and spillages. Within the UK we recommend Safe Clean. You can type in your postcode to find you local specialist and they will make an appointment to spray your rug at your location. Please view the website: www.safeclean.co.uk
Cleaning: For day-to-day cleaning, a light vacuuming will do an excellent job of removing surface dirt. Please consult a professional cleaner to remove any stains. Your new rug will naturally shed loose fluff and fine fibres for the first few months of its life. This is quite normal and is not to be considered a fault. Regular vacuuming will gradually remove this excess fluff. The rug edges should be vacuumed gently as the pile is more exposed to wear and tear, especially if your machine is an upright model that uses a rotary brush head. We strongly advise you lift the vacuum cleaner onto the rug rather than run over the edges repeatedly to avoid damaging the pile.
