In 2017 Margo Selby presented her first solo art show, Pick By Pick. Presented by the Rochester Art Gallery and the Huguenot Museum, this special partnership exhibition celebrated the handwoven artwork and commercial portfolio of work Margo has created in her fifteen-year career as a textile artist and designer.
The exhibit featured a prolific 16-piece, 8 meter installation of handwoven artworks, along with an archive of her design work and the processes behind them.
The pieces on display were created using a technique called Lampas – a term for a woven structure to create a decorative brocade fabric that was developed in the 17th century and most notably used by the Huguenot weavers, who came to England from Belgium and France from the 1680s and transformed the English textile trade.
