Join Margo Selby for a 2-Day Colour Theory Workshop this September
Colour is at the heart of everything we do at Margo Selby Studio. This hands-on course offers an opportunity to explore colour, mindful making, and textile craft in a supportive studio environment.
Every artwork Margo makes begins with a yarn winding, taking colour on a journey. It's an intuitive process, but one grounded in a deep understanding of how colours speak to one another. This September, Margo opens her studio to share that process with you.
Awarded the Turner Medal for Britain's Greatest Colourist in 2021, Margo brings a rare and practised eye to the study of colour.
Over two days, she'll lead an intimate workshop exploring how colours interact in textiles, from the way tones layer and shift, to the role repetition and composition play in a finished piece.
Day One
The workshop begins with a day exploring colour theory through a series of hands-on exercises, experimenting with colour blending, pairing and palette building.
Day Two
You'll put your colour theory into practice to create your own miniature yarn-wound artworks or designs.
All materials are provided, and a light seasonal lunch and refreshments are included each day.
You're welcome to bring creative references of your own to inspire your direction, this could include drawings, photographs or found images that inspire you through colour.
By the end of the two days, you'll leave with your own winding library, a tactile reference to take home and return to again and again.
The workshop is suitable for all abilities, with no previous experience of weaving or colour winding required.

Course Timings:
10am - 4pm each day
Before the Workshop:
Once booked, our studio team will contact you with workshop logistics.
Please note that our workshops are for adults aged 16 and over.
Materials & Equipment:
All supplies are provided, we have an extensive array of yarns in varied colours, materials, and textures available.
Travel & Accommodation:
Attendees are responsible for arranging their own accommodation and travel. Our studio is a 25-minute walk or 5-minute drive from central Whitstable. For those travelling to Whitstable, we have prepared a Guide to Whitstable with accommodation, restaurants, and local recommendations to help plan your stay.
During the Workshop:
Lunch + refreshments are provided.
The workshop is located on the first floor of the studio and is accessed via a flight of stairs.
Please also let us know of any additional needs, and we will do our best to adapt the workshop to your requirements.
Important Information for International Attendees:
We strongly recommend that international participants take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover any unforeseen disruptions to their trip. Please note that we are unable to refund or reimburse any costs incurred within six weeks of the workshop start date due to travel changes, cancellations or other unforeseen circumstances.
Cancellation Policy:
If you need to cancel your booking, please notify us by email as soon as possible.
- Cancellations made more than six weeks before the course start date will receive a full refund
- Cancellations made within six weeks of the course start date will receive a 50% refund
- Cancellations made within two weeks of the course start date are non-refundable
All refunds are made at the discretion of the Studio Manager.

UK retail orders are charged £3.95, with FREE shipping on purchases over £100. We aim to dispatch in-stock items within 2 to 4 working days.
International Delivery
International retail orders are sent with DDP (Delivery Duty Paid), meaning that taxes and duties are included in the final price. Delivery charges are weight based and are confirmed at checkout.
Returns
In-stock items may be returned by customers for a full refund within 14 days of receiving your order.
Please note, for hygiene reasons, opened bedding cannot be returned.
