Margo Selby launches a series of limited edition lambswool throws, woven in 100% lambswool in Scotland.
Sakuru and Kozo are the first two designs of the series. Using the format of the blanket as a canvas, each design has a large scale geometric composition. A subtle blend of monochromatic lambswool yarns have been cleverly constructed to reveal intricate patterning that changes within the bold geometric shapes of each piece.
The complex details of each design are the result of extensive hand woven development pieces produced on the looms in Margo’s Whitstable studio. Margo’s intent was to juxtapose the different variations of structure within a single cloth to emulate the patchwork elements found in Japanese Boro textiles with the bold compositions a nod to American quilts.
This process of starting with hand produced samples is part of Margo’s ethos of ‘art into industry’ championing the craft of the handweaver alongside the skill and expertise of industrial mills.
As a supporter of The Campaign for Wool, we are proud to champion the wool producers and specialist wool mills who’s quality materials and honed manufacturing skills allow us to create such exceptional products.
